Sponsored Walk

Post by Steve Ball on Sun Jul 09, 2017 5:08 pm

I am interested in doing a Sponsored Walk - would like to do it for our nominated charity but am open to suggestions from Squad Members - do you have a cause dear to you which you'd like to raise money for. The one i did for Neave's Fund i raised over 2 grand but that was after a good few months of intensive fund raising. I was thinking this time of a Marathon's distance but might be a bit too ambitious as not as fit as i used to be so may leave it to a standard 15 miles: East Lancs based because i know the area and maybe using ASDA stores as waypoints - i used Tesco's for Neave's Fund and this is what started all that off originally (shameless plus there but also has the potential to open up stuff with ASDAs which can lead onto bigger things - if 99th can use Tesco to collect for Neave why cant we use ASDAs to collect for out charity?

Sorting the route out will be no issue whatsoever. I could do a lot of the Event Organisation myself but on the day would need a representative. Also would be great if i could have a few troopers at each ASDA (Max of three maybe who may have to move from venue to venue - so a lot of kitting and de-kitting for you (ill call this travelling trooper). Would need to inform local police stations due to weapon carriage and maybe also get Press involved. So lots to think about amongst an already busy schedule but its doable and think it would be good for the squad and our charity which i would set up a Just Giving Page for.

I would need a support staff person to follow me round as safety.

Thoughts in this thread as per normal please and have put some Poll questions up.

Mick do you want to do an initial liaison with ASDA for this one? It would be ASDA Accy, Rawtenstall and Burnley. Maybe this could be an event where everyone chips in and has a role instead of one Event Coordinator.

Ok, ive voted support staff due to how hot ill get in costume, I can do the full walk no problem. Id like the money raised to go to NHBCH and maybe a children's charity? 50/50 split?
The just giving page would be awesome idea!

im not bothered where the money goes to so I'm happy for anyone to decide this or it all goes to NHBCH - might be better if we do get another though as will give people more choice as to where their money goes - im setting my personal goal to raise £1000

If my costume is ready il do it. I suppose this gives me an opportunity to get off my backside and get walking at night. Plus il lose a bit of weight doing. Put me down for the full thing.
